UPCOMING WRITER’S WORKSHOPS

Course Details:
The Workshop will take place on Monday evenings, over four weeks, beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, at Nanoose Bay Community Centre, 2925 Northwest Bay Road, Nanoose Bay,, from 6:00pm to approx. 8:00pm, and concluding Monday, April 13, 2020.

Some of what we’ll cover:
An overview of fiction writing in literary and popular forms.
Story ideas that work
Research and story development.
How to craft a powerful opening hook.
Crafting powerful narrative and moving dialogue.
How to develop the challenging middle ground.
Use well-chosen innuendo and subtlety to sharpen scene and setting.
How to tune your mind to story: writing in flow.
Writers will craft and hone a story of their own throughout the course.

Some Credentials:
Author of two historical fiction novels ( A Garden of Thieves & Blessed Be the Bones) and a book of creative non-fiction essays (That Which Remains).
Short stories published in Malahat Review, Wildlife Magazine, Gonzo Magazine.
Communications & Media Writing Instructor at Centre for Arts and Technology, Kelowna Campus.
— Former editor for BC Musician Magazine, Gonzo – Music, Film & Culture; BC Sport Fishing Guide, Bodysport Magazine, Snowbirds RV Traveller and a few others.
Freelance Investigative Journalist & Photographer.
Book and Magazine Designer
